Fernando Alonso could abandon Renault

The German racer is close to BMW

The lack of results in the F-1 Championship could trigger the separation of the famous racer from Renault motor-racing team if a better option comes in his way. BMW and Ferrari are the racing teams which seem most probable to compete to tempt Alonso. The results have not come and Alonso is accumulating disappointments in a transition season.

Alonso signed a 2 year contract with Renault F1 after revoking his deal with McLaren. Part of this contract states that if the objectives expected were met, it will be renewed unilaterally.

The option that seems closer to the interests of Alonso today is BMW. First, because they had already started serious negotiations in 2007 and secondly because it is still a small team, with broad economic and technical resources, serious, and above all, it is the team that has evolved the most in the last two seasons.

Besides the interest that BMW has always shown to hire him, Alonso is comfortable with this option because he knows that racing in the same team as his friend Robert Kubica will be a pleasure. The Polish pilot, who last Sunday won his first big prize, has a good relationship with Alonso, they respect each other and know that they would be able to complement very well.
